Well I still have it. And yes ive been trying to sell but with no luck. Sadly its getting worse. She no longer likes third gear. According to my code reader, my 3-2 shift solenoid is bad and im mis-shifting about 70% of the time. Under acceleration, I go 1st, 2nd..... delay... RPMs dropping, REDLINE into 1st then JERK into 4th. Honestly I think rebuilding the tranny would fix most everything but I dont have the $1000 or so to do it.

Selling the car as is running isnt working. Ive got it listed at $2200 but people that are looking at it want it for a daily driver. They dont know its not like other V70s and dont want to put the work into it.

I think im going to try parting it out. Ive got 4 matching R rims and brand new Dunlop Sport Signature tires. Think I could get $1000 for all 4?

Then ive already got 2 spares on rims and the one donut. Ill go to the junkyard get one more tire and rim and sell the whole car for $1500.

The interior alone which is perfect has to be worth that. Other than misshifting it drives fine. How should I even go about listing it here?

Thanks for reading and your input.

I mentioned it when we were chatting last night, but I think you should try and find a good local shop that will 1) treat both you and the car very well 2) work with you on pricing and 3) get Vikkie back on the road.

I know the V70 has been a roller coaster for you, but it is your little chunk of the automotive world you can call your own, and I think it can have a greater meaning to you if you try and jump into the fire a little.

If K-Roll can do it, so can you. You outright own the car, and you can take your time on getting it back to 100%. Many people have project cars that last for many many years. My Magnum went about 6 months before the motors defect reared it's ugly head. Clearly, you're not in that deep with the car, but you can persevere. I would keep the good rims and Dunlops until you can at least get an estimate from a shop.

A good shop wont charge you for an estimate, because they'll want to see the car on the road. It will take more time, but if you can find the right shop, you'll be in good hands. I can even ask the guys at my shop if they know anyone down in your general area.

But whatever you do, I cannot stress this enough, it's a V70R . Join a forum and do your best to inquire about advice. Don't start a thread off with the story of buying the car and only have trouble with it, just start the thread off with this is your problem, and if anyone has advice. The internet is a harsh place, the best thing to do is give it only information that is relevant and what they need to know in order to offer some advice. If you are going to sell it, list it on a Volvo specific forum, even a Volvo Wagon forum if you can find one. List it high, let them talk down to a still comfortable number for you.

Keep Oppo wagon.

I'm with JGrabowMSt. I don't know the intricacies of your personal situation, but maybe a small loan to cover the repair would work.

What part of the country are you in?

If it does come down to selling it, eBay might be a good option. People love these cars in my part of the country. Your asking price here in the PacNW should at the very least garner some interest fairly quickly.

That sucks about the trans. I just swapped out the automatic in my 98 v70r for a m58 manual transmission (retains awd). I might have a good shift solenoid laying around. I'm not exactly sure how the auto works or what all the bits on it are.

On a side note, why does it have a regular v70 front bumper? It could be that Volvo enthusiasts are passing on it at first glance due to wrong body parts.

Hello sir,

If I may be so bold:

I don't know if you "know a guy" or something, but paying someone to rebuild transmission costs thousands of dollars, not one. Even dropping in a junkyard low mileage goes well over $1,000.

I also don't think anyone is going to buy that thing at $2200 obo... And if you were to squeeze every penny, like sell the good tires and rims separately, and the sell the cars with a bunch of donuts, you're really not getting $1500 for that either.

I think it's just time to cut your losses. Two options: Drop that price and sell it before the transmission completely grenades. You might find it impossible to sell for above scrap value if you also need a buyer to bring a flatbed. Or, sell what's useable (tires, etc.) and just junk it.

The car was involved in a slight accident prior to his purchase of it

How fucked is it? What other problems are there other than the transmission shifting? It's a manual, isn't it?

its great mechanically other than that issue. It's P0785 fault code. Common issue with these automatic transmissions versions. Would be a great candidate for a manual swap.

In that case just replace or clean your linear solenoid valves and it should be fine

Let me know if you do end up parting it out, I may be interested in a few parts for my 850.
